Job summary

The San Jacinto River Authority is seeking a Utility Operations Superintendent to coordinate and supervise operations related to water treatment, transmission, distribution and/or wastewater collection. The role ensures safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient, reliable system performance.

The position requires leadership of staff, adherence to environmental and safety standards, and close collaboration with other divisions to meet strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; a Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering, business, or mechanical/electrical fields.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in operations, maintenance, repair, and capital improvement of water/wastewater systems.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience preferred.
• TCEQ Class B Wastewater Operator and Class C Groundwater licenses are required.
• Valid Texas driver's license with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance for water/wastewater systems.
• Oversee budgeting, staffing, and performance evaluations for the division.
• Coordinate with maintenance and risk management to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure timely reporting to local, state, and federal agencies and customers.
• Direct recruitment, training, and development of staff within budget constraints.
