Job summary

Des Moines Water Works is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead planning, design, construction, and maintenance of water production projects. You will oversee water production facilities, quality analysis, and treatment process modeling while ensuring regulatory compliance and service quality to customers.

You will manage staff, coordinate safety programs, prepare budgets and reports, and act as a consultant on complex water utility issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• At least five years of engineering design or review of water production facilities.
• Two years of supervisory/management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, oversees, and evaluates the construction of water production projects and other projects to maintain operations and service.
• Assists in establishing goals and objectives ensuring compliance with laws and strategic plan.
• Serves as Loss Prevention Manager and coordinates the safety program.
• Manages staff performance including delegation, training and performance management; supervises Civil Engineer I - Water Production.
• Oversees source water protection efforts.
• Prepares reports for the Board and management; reviews for accuracy and quality.
• Monitors budget, expenditures, and resource allocation for water production projects.
• Responds to customer concerns and maintains positive community relations.
• Participates in capital improvements planning and reviews projects for feasibility.
• Serves as a consultant to customer service on complex issues.
• Provides technical guidance on regulatory and policy matters.
