Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Water Resources Project Engineer to lead design projects in the Des Moines or Iowa City area. You will guide technical teams and drive practical, cost-effective solutions for water resources challenges.

The role focuses on stormwater planning and design, stream restoration, flood reduction, and related municipal/w watershed improvements. Travel may be required, and licensing as an Iowa/engineering professional is expected within months.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with engineering design efforts and developing plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
10+ years of civil engineering design, specifications, and construction administration/observation.
Experience preparing and reviewing engineering plans, specs, and construction documents.
IA Professional Engineer’s License or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Lead or support water resources design projects and evaluate design approaches.
Oversee design process and develop alternatives; prepare and review plans and specs.
Understand and apply technical specs, materials, permitting, and related information.
Support construction bidding, contract administration, and construction observation.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technicians.
