Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with deep expertise in water and sanitation systems in Randburg, Gauteng. You will design, plan, and manage projects for municipal water supply and wastewater treatment, coordinating with clients and contractors to deliver critical infrastructure.

The role demands a strong grasp of hydraulic principles, regulatory requirements, and leadership to mentor junior engineers while ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 8 years of civil engineering experience with water and sanitation specialization.
• Proven experience in designing water distribution, sewer networks, and wastewater treatment processes.
• Proficiency with hydraulic modelling software (EPANET, WaterCAD, SWMM) and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure development processes and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning, and implementation of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including reticulation networks, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, hydraulic models, calculations, and construction specifications.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring project objectives are met.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and condition assessments of existing infrastructure.
• Liaise with clients, municipal departments, regulatory authorities, and construction contractors.
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, SANS specifications, and environmental legislation.
• Oversee construction activities, providing technical support and resolving design issues.
• Mentor and guide junior civil engineers and technical staff on water and sanitation projects.
• Review and approve engineering designs and reports.
