Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a Senior Project Engineer to join its Water Resources team in the Pittsburgh, PA office. The role leads advanced water resources design for infrastructure projects across the region, with emphasis on drainage for transportation clients and green stormwater infrastructure in urban areas.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate client relations, and contribute to design reviews and project leadership, ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 10–12+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead water resources design for multiple concurrent projects.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work for a major project or a total project of moderate scope.
• Serve as technical advisor for drainage, stormwater, green infrastructure, and permitting.
• Identify watersheds and drainage patterns; delineate drainage areas and perform runoff calculations.
• Design stormwater management practices and related infrastructure.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS, SWMM, and related tools.
• Prepare post-construction and permitting documents, technical reports, and cost estimates.
• Interpret design standards and coordinate with clients, agencies, and staff.
