Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join its Water Resources team in the Pittsburgh, PA office. You will lead advanced water resources design for infrastructure projects, with emphasis on drainage for transportation clients and green stormwater infrastructure in urban areas.

The successful candidate will coordinate design tasks, serve as a technical advisor, mentor engineers, perform quality reviews, and support client coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 10-12+ years of related experience in water resources.
• Experience supporting Pennsylvania DOT, municipal, county, or regional public agencies.
• Experience designing green stormwater infrastructure in urban environments.
• Two-dimensional modeling experience using HEC-RAS, SWMM, or comparable models.

Responsibilities

• Lead the water resources design for multiple concurrent projects.
• Plan and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work for major projects.
• Serve as a technical advisor for drainage, stormwater, and green infrastructure.
• Identify watersheds and drainage patterns; delineate drainage areas and compute runoff.
• Design stormwater management facilities and drainage networks.
• Perform hydrologic/hydraulic modeling with HEC-RAS, SWMM, or equivalent.
• Prepare post-construction stormwater/erosion control plans and technical reports.
• Interpret design standards and permitting criteria; coordinate with stakeholders.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and review team work.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and consultants across locations.
