Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Senior Water Resources Project Engineer to join our Pittsburgh, PA office. You will lead advanced water resources design for infrastructure projects, with a focus on drainage for transportation clients and green stormwater infrastructure in dense urban settings.

The role involves coordinating design assignments, providing technical guidance, mentoring engineers, and interfacing with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 10–12+ years of related experience in water resources.
• Experience supporting transportation, municipal, or regional public-agency projects in Pennsylvania.
• Experience designing green stormwater infrastructure in urban environments.
• Two-dimensional modeling experience with HEC-RAS, SWMM or similar tools.
• Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or ENV SP, or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead water resources design for multiple projects and manage complex engineering tasks.
• Coordinate detailed phases of engineering work and supervise junior team members.
• Serve as technical advisor for drainage, stormwater, green infrastructure, and hydrologic analyses.
• Perform and review hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS, SWMM, and related tools.
• Prepare permit applications, technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Mentor engineers, review design computations, and ensure quality across projects.
