Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Water Resources team in our Columbus, OH office. You will lead advanced water resources design for infrastructure projects, focusing on drainage for transportation clients and urban green stormwater infrastructure, while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree.
• PE license in Ohio or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with Ohio Department of Transportation or public-agency projects.
• Two-dimensional modeling experience using HEC-RAS, SWMM, or comparable model.
• Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or ENV SP certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead water resources design for multiple concurrent projects.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
• Serve as a technical advisor for drainage, stormwater, green stormwater infrastructure, and related analysis.
• Identify watersheds and drainage patterns; perform time-of-concentration and runoff calculations.
• Design stormwater management practices and related infrastructure.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using TR-55/TR-20, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar tools.
• Prepare post-construction stormwater plans, permit applications, and technical reports.
• Interpret design standards and permitting criteria; lead reviews.
• Define design parameters and mentor staff.
