Job summary

CP Engineers is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Water Resources practice in New Jersey. You will lead design, planning, and regulatory coordination for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pumping stations, and distribution systems.

The role requires a PE license or progress toward it, 6+ years in water resources, and strong AutoCAD and documentation skills. Hybrid/remote work flexibility and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering required.
• 6+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
• PE license or on track to obtain within a reasonable time.
• Strong knowledge of NJDEP regulations, permitting processes, and federal standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD and technical report writing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer water and wastewater facilities and distribution systems per industry standards.
• Perform feasibility studies and environmental evaluations to optimize solutions.
• Prepare calculations, reports, specifications, and contract documents compliant with regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and field assessments for design and construction phases.
• Lead regulatory permitting efforts and ensure compliance with permits and approvals.
• Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
• Manage technical scope, budgets, and schedules in a fast-paced setting.
• Mentor junior staff and share regulatory knowledge and design procedures.
• Incorporate sustainability measures and life-cycle considerations in projects.
