Job summary

CP Engineers is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Water Resources practice. You will design water and wastewater facilities, perform feasibility studies, coordinate permits, and mentor junior staff across projects that protect water quality and infrastructure.

This role emphasizes collaboration with internal teams and regulators to ensure compliant, high-quality design solutions. Ideal candidates have 6+ years in water resources engineering, a PE license or on track to obtain, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
• PE license or on track to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of NJDEP regulations, permitting processes, and relevant federal standards (EPA, CWA, SDWA).
• Experience with AutoCAD and technical report writing.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering: plan and design water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution systems in accordance with standards and regulations.
• Feasibility studies: perform feasibility studies for water resources projects with hydraulic and environmental evaluations.
• Documentation: prepare calculations, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
• Site work: conduct site inspections and field assessments to support design and construction.
• Regulatory coordination: lead regulatory permitting efforts and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration: coordinate with structural, civil, and MEP teams and vendors.
• Project delivery: manage scope, budgets, and schedules in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentorship: guide junior engineers and share regulatory knowledge and design procedures.
• Sustainability: incorporate energy and water efficiency and lifecycle analysis.
