Job summary

Gwinnett County Government is seeking a senior operations supervisor for a water production/reclamation facility. The role oversees 24 operations personnel, a 6‑member management team, and contractors, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant plant performance.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible water treatment or wastewater experience, some supervisory.
• Associate’s degree in business management or a technical field is required.
• Class I certification/license in wastewater is required.
• Level 1A Erosion and Sedimentation Control Certification must be obtained within 1 year.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, management, or closely related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ~24 operations staff including a 6-person management team; supervise contractors and consultants.
• Oversee daily performance of facility treatment processes to ensure reliability, permit compliance, and safety alongside Maintenance.
• Collaborate with Plant Engineering on troubleshooting, process improvements, and capital upgrades.
• Ensure PMs are executed; address CMs; manage assets for maximum lifecycle performance.
• Monitor and operate the facility SCADA system; track performance, alarms, and reliability.
• Supervise staff; conduct performance evaluations; train staff; handle hiring, termination, and discipline.
• Oversee day-to-day operations at the F. Wayne Hill Facility; budget preparation and expenditures tracking.
• Prepare cost estimates from site inspections and project planning.
• Respond to inquiries from other departments and the public; conduct plant tours and prepare reports for regulators.
