Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer – Water Modeler to support planning, development, and optimization of water and wastewater systems. You will build and maintain hydraulic and hydrologic models that guide operations and capital projects.

Requirements include a PE license with at least three years post-licensure, experience with InfoWater/WaterGEMS/EPANET, and strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Three years post-licensure experience (including field work).
• Preferred experience with InfoWater, WaterGEMS, or EPANET.
• Six years of water/wastewater design, development, or operation preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and calibrate hydraulic and hydrologic models for water and wastewater systems.
• Evaluate developer submittals to ensure system capacity aligns with growth.
• Perform system-wide capacity analysis and contribute to long-term planning.
• Use InfoWater, WaterGEMS, EPANET to analyse and optimise performance.
• Interpret SCADA and flow data to validate models and troubleshoot issues.
• Support capital improvement planning: pipe sizing, pump capacity, storage, and treatment expansion.
• Collaborate across departments to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions.
• Contribute to Water and Wastewater Master Plans and impact fee studies.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to teams and leadership.
• Provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders and external partners.
