Job summary

Ardmore Roderick is seeking a Water Infrastructure Design Engineer to join our Chicago or Downers Grove, IL team. You will deliver drinking water engineering projects for clients in the Midwest and South, with technical excellence across designs, asset management, and construction support.

You will mentor staff, lead technical reports, and coordinate with owners and design teams, while growing client relationships in a collaborative, safety-focused firm.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering field.
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
• 6-12 years of experience in design and/or construction services of water linear infrastructure.
• Experience with design of water infrastructure focused projects such as pump stations, water transmission and distribution systems, feeder mains, groundwater wells, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of water industry best practices and standards.
• Experience in the preparation of contract documents, including drawings and specifications, for complex water projects.
• Strong technical and entrepreneurial competencies, as well as the ability to expand existing client relationships and to establish working relationships with new clients.
• Demonstrated project delivery/execution experience, including managing client expectations and satisfaction, technical teams, project financial management, resource management, change order management and client invoicing/payments.
• Ability to serve as the technical liaison between the project owner and a design team.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Active engagement in professional industry organizations, including committees.
• Have a team player mindset with the ability to communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms.

Responsibilities

• Work on and deliver projects related to drinking water engineering services to a variety of clients in the Midwest and South regions.
• Deliver technical excellence in preliminary designs, final designs, asset management, program management, bid assistance and services during construction for water infrastructure.
• Commit to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve client’s toughest challenges.
• Lead preparation of engineering reports, provide support services during construction, and a variety of other related assignments.
• Mentor and help support the growth of staff through both professional and technical oversight and support.
