Job summary

Ardmore Roderick seeks a Civil Design Engineer to join our team in Chicago or Downers Grove, IL. You will help deliver infrastructure projects across utilities, transportation, and facilities, collaborating with PMs and engineering teams.

The role supports hybrid work depending on client and project needs. The ideal candidate has a BS in electrical or civil engineering, 0–3 years of electrical design experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Civil Engineering required.
• 0–3 years of experience on electrical design projects.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects with Project Manager into actionable tasks.
• Design and implement projects using client objectives and engineering standards.
• Work on multiple projects and coordinate with practices throughout the cycle.
• Learn client-specific programs and tools, including AutoCAD.
• Communicate with project managers to ensure timely execution and early issue detection.
• Develop overhead, underground, and URD design packages for electric utility projects in Greater Chicago area.
• Produce design plans for OH/UG/URD.
• Create work packages using GIS, CAD, and work management systems.
• Perform engineering calculations including pole sizing, voltage drop, and coordination of protective devices.
• Assist with permits, BOM development, and cost estimation.
