Job summary

CSG Talent is partnering with a well-established engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Water / Wastewater Engineer for its Baltimore, MD office. This leadership role oversees the Baltimore Water/Wastewater team, guiding design delivery, mentoring engineers, and coordinating resources to ensure the successful completion of municipal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer license in Maryland.
• Minimum 15 years of water and wastewater design and project management experience.
• Strong background in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure.
• Experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
• Experience as Engineer of Record and providing technical oversight.
• Knowledge of design standards, QA, and project delivery."
• Established Maryland/Mid-Atlantic contacts are advantageous.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with Revit, BIM, or BioWin is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Our client has a strong presence across the Mid-Atlantic and an excellent reputation for delivering complex municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Water / Wastewater Engineer looking to combine technical expertise, project delivery, and team management within an established and growing engineering practice.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in overseeing the Baltimore Water / Wastewater engineering team, providing technical direction, mentoring engineers, coordinating resources, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Baltimore Water / Wastewater engineering team.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, workload planning, and resource allocation.
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, supporting their technical and professional development.
• Promote collaboration across engineering disciplines and regional offices.
• Support the continued growth and development of the local engineering practice.

Project Delivery & Technical Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Provide senior technical oversight across engineering design, project execution, and quality assurance.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) on selected projects.
• Review engineering designs, technical specifications, and project documentation.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with technical standards, budgets, and schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery and engineering processes.

Client Relationships & Business Development

• Maintain and develop relationships with municipal and public-sector clients.
• Support business development initiatives, proposals, and project pursuits.
• Participate in client meetings, project planning, and strategic discussions.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for continued growth.
• Provide technical and commercial input into project scopes, budgets, and proposals.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Maryland.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering design and project management.
• Strong technical background in municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
• Experience providing technical oversight and serving as Engineer of Record.
• Strong understanding of engineering design standards, quality assurance, and project delivery.
• Established relationships within the Maryland or wider Mid-Atlantic water/wastewater market are advantageous.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills.
• Experience with engineering design and modelling software, including Revit, BIM, or BioWin, is beneficial.
