Job summary

King County Wastewater Treatment Division in Seattle, WA seeks an experienced structural engineer to lead and review design for public works infrastructure, including buildings, tanks, and supports. The role focuses on ensuring King County interests are represented in consultant designs and standards.

You'll coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, stamp plans as a PE, manage complex capital projects, and maintain division standards, specifications, and design documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience including planning, design and construction.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Washington or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical issues in a multi-discipline environment.
• Experience managing multiple, complex capital projects within timeframes and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare public works and procurement documents and cost estimates in line with bidding policy.
• Stamp and sign plans as a Professional Engineer or Architect.
• Review shop drawings and advise on contractor compliance with contract documents and changes.
• Review equipment vendor proposals and ensure facilities align with County requirements.
• Provide technical assistance for complex emergency repairs and coordinate with maintenance teams as needed.
