Job summary

King County Wastewater Division is seeking a senior structural engineer to lead design work for county infrastructure, including buildings, tanks, catwalks, and supports. You will review consultant teams’ designs to ensure alignment with King County interests.

You will also update and maintain standards, guide specifications, and design documents, while working in a hybrid model blending remote and in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural eng or closely related field.
• 8+ years engineering experience in planning, design and construction.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in WA or ability to obtain within 90 days.

About the Role:

This position will conduct structural design for King County Wastewater Treatment infrastructure including buildings, tanks, catwalks, supports and other facilities throughout the county. Additionally, it will review the work of other structural engineers hired as part of consultant teams assisting the consultant engineers in their design and reviewing their work to represent King County interests. The position will update and maintain King County Wastewater Division standards, including guide specifications and other design documents.

This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.

Qualifications You Bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or closely related engineering field.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience including project planning, design, and construction.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in State of Washington, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.
• Demonstrated experience in solving complex technical issues within a multi-discipline work environment.
• Experience in managing multiple, complex capital projects simultaneously within established timeframes, and costs.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

• Registration as a Professional Engineer in State of Washington, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.

  Familiarity with water, wastewater and/or industrial facilities and construction principles and techniques.
