Job summary

King County Wastewater Treatment Division is seeking a Senior Wastewater Structural Engineer to lead structural design across county facilities, review work of consultant teams, and update design standards. The role blends remote and on-site work within a collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on protecting public health and the environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in planning, design and construction.
• Washington Professional Engineer registration, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.
• Experience solving complex technical issues in a multi-discipline environment.
• Experience managing multiple, complex capital projects within time and cost constraints.

Responsibilities

• Prepare public works and procurement contract documents and cost estimates per bidding policy and permits.
• Stamp and sign PE/Architect plans.
• Review shop drawings, advise on contract compliance, and review change orders.
• Review vendor proposals and ensure County facilities do not conflict with adjacent projects.
• Assist with complex emergency repairs of wastewater facilities and coordinate with maintenance/contractors.
