Job summary

City of Charlotte Water Department is seeking an experienced engineer to perform advanced wastewater analyses, develop hydraulic models, participate in master planning, and support CIP projects. The role requires coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and providing expert guidance on wastewater systems’ operation and modeling.

The position involves regulatory reporting, solution-oriented problem solving, and serving as a subject matter expert.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited school.
• Five years of related work experience in planning, design, and/or technical civil engineering or municipal CIP.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
• Experience with wastewater systems and hydraulic modeling is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develops, conducts, or leads hydraulic modeling, planning, and regulatory reporting for wastewater systems.
• Supports investigations, project design, and construction related to wastewater collection and treatment.
• Mentors engineering and technical staff and supervises field activities.
• Creates maps and tools in Arc GIS Pro; trains team members.
• Ensures project management workflows, contracts, invoices, and payments compliance.
