Job summary

The City of Charlotte's Water Department is seeking a Senior Engineer to perform engineering analyses on wastewater systems, develop hydraulic models, and contribute to CIP planning. You will coordinate with cross‑functional teams and ensure compliance with federal/state requirements.

You will lead master planning, basin studies, and regulatory reporting, acting as SME in wastewater infrastructure and supervising staff in modeling, data, and project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited school.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Five (5) years of directly related work experience in planning, design and/or technical roles related to civil engineering or municipal CIP.

Responsibilities

• Develops, conducts, or leads hydraulic modeling, planning, engineering studies and regulatory reporting for wastewater designs.
• Provides technical support during investigations, project design, and construction activities for collection systems and growth impacts.
• Acts as SME for wastewater infrastructure projects, including master plans and coordination of installations.
• Supervises technical staff in field activities related to wastewater flow monitoring and capacity analysis.
• Develops maps and tools in Arc GIS Pro; trains team members as needed.
• Oversees project management workflows including contracts, invoices and payments.
