Job summary

WithersRavenel is seeking a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer to join our Utilities (Water/Wastewater) practice in North Carolina. The hybrid role is based in Outer Banks, NC, focusing on developing, calibrating, and analyzing hydraulic models for water and wastewater systems.

Project Engineer candidates will emphasize technical modeling and project support, while Senior Project Engineer candidates will lead modeling efforts, mentor staff, and assist in project management and client

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of related experience for Project Engineer level.
• 10+ years of related experience for Senior Project Engineer level.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain license within 12 months).
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, PCSWMM).
• Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong analytical skills and Excel proficiency for data analysis.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities; handle multiple tasks under pressure.
• Mentor and lead technical staff; plan, schedule, and track milestones and budget.
• Experience with R or Python (preferred) and BioWin (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate, and maintain hydraulic models for water distribution and wastewater systems.
• Analyze model results and provide data-driven recommendations for system planning and design.
• Support project teams with system assessments, master planning, and infrastructure design.
• Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and client presentations.
• Senior level: lead modeling tasks and provide guidance to junior engineers.
• Senior level: support project management activities including scope, schedule, and client coordination.
