Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer specialized in wastewater systems to perform analyses, develop hydraulic models, and support master planning and CIP projects. The role requires expert knowledge in regulatory reporting and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include leading modeling efforts, monitoring infrastructure needs, and supervising staff. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, along with PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited school.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Five years of directly related work experience in planning, design, and/or technical, work preferably in civil engineering or municipal capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Develops, conducts, or leads hydraulic modeling, planning, engineering studies, and regulatory reporting for wastewater systems.
• Provides technical support during investigations, project design, and construction activities related to wastewater systems.
• Serves as subject matter expert for wastewater infrastructure projects from master plans and department groups; coordinates implementation.
• Supervises technical staff in field activities including flow monitoring and capacity analysis.
• Develops maps and tools in Arc GIS Pro; trains team members as necessary.
• Completes regulatory and voluntary reporting and ensures contract/workflow compliance.
