Job summary

Arcadis, a global leader in sustainable design and infrastructure, seeks a Senior Wastewater Engineer for the San Francisco Bay Area. Lead nutrient management initiatives, support utility clients, and guide projects from planning through optimization and capital delivery.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, translate regulatory requirements into practical engineering solutions, and mentor junior staff while traveling up to 40% across Northern California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 10 years of experience supporting wastewater planning, design, and infrastructure projects in California.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to obtain within six months.
• Master's degree in Engineering or related field (preferred).
• 15 years of experience in wastewater planning, design, and infrastructure projects (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Identify and position for upcoming nutrient planning, optimization and capital improvement programs in the Bay Area.
• Lead technical evaluations and designs for nutrient removal, process optimization, and water reuse.
• Translate complex findings into clear calculations, memos, planning reports, and recommendations.
• Support project delivery with scope, budget, schedule, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Build relationships with Bay Area utilities and participate in technical forums and proposals.
• Advise clients on regulatory compliance, capacity planning, and long-term asset management.
• Mentor junior staff and foster an inclusive team environment.
