Job description

Responsible for loading and unloading freight accurately, inventory control, rotation, inspection, and other warehouse-related duties to ensure timely and accurate delivery of freight to customers. May assist with directing warehouse employees while performing individual responsibilities in a specific functional area.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

1. Load inbound and outbound freight to and from vehicles and containers.
2. Unload inbound and outbound containers and sort according to size and destination.
3. Read, decode, and decipher freight coding to expedite movement and tracing.
4. Reconcile driver pickup and delivery manifests.
5. Label, weigh, and dimensionalize freight.
6. Perform cleanup activities to ensure safety and cleanliness of the dock area.
7. Record damaged shipments and misrouted freight on reports.
8. Communicate work area needs to Warehouse Supervisor.
9. Determine daily tasks and workloads, coordinate staffing, and delegate tasks in conjunction with Warehouse Supervisor.
10. Identify system or process issues and communicate to Warehouse Supervisor.
11. Coordinate trucking transportation in and out of the warehouse.
12. Maintain quality standards for storage and service, including communication with internal and external customers.
13. Maintain a safe working environment.
14. Complete other duties as assigned.
15. Assist in training other warehouse personnel.

Role-Specific Skills and Requirements:

This is a senior-level position requiring a high school diploma or equivalent, with generally 3-5 years of experience. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, ability to operate equipment such as forklifts and computers, and strong organizational, inventory, and accounting skills are necessary. Good interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to read freight coding, operate hand trucks and forklifts, and perform tasks in various weather conditions. Physical requirements include pushing, pulling, and lifting weights over 50 lbs.
