Job summary

Pacific Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated metrology engineer to join the Consumable NPI team, working on current and next generation products. The role focuses on developing and sustaining wafer metrology for R&D and high-volume manufacturing, with close collaboration across internal/external partners to improve yield and quality.

The ideal candidate will be data-driven, experienced in JMP/MATLAB/SQL/Python, and capable of solving complex problems with holistic product evaluation.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 4–8 years with a Bachelor's or 2–6 with a Master's, or 0–5 with a PhD.
• Degree in Applied physics, Optics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors.
• Experience with semiconductor wafer metrology and proficiency in an electro-optical lab environment.
• Strong knowledge of NPI, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, and lean manufacturing; data-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Developing, improving, and sustaining wafer metrology processes for R&D and high-volume manufacturing.
• Hands-on support for all technical and data aspects of wafer metrology on the production line.
• Collaborate with partners, R&D, QA, manufacturing, and supply chain to meet targets and drive projects.
• Perform DOE, SPC, MSA, FMEA, and GR&R to identify failure mechanisms and improve yield.
