Job summary

Mode.Inc seeks an experienced DevOps/Network Engineer to own the infrastructure behind our VPN product after acquisition. You will operate, stabilize, and evolve the production environment while collaborating with the team on delivery and reliability.

You will migrate to automation, build CI/CD, and implement observability foundations across cloud providers. A security-minded mindset and agentic AI usage are essential for scalable, safe deployments.

Qualifications

5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or network engineering in an agile environment.
Hands-on AWS experience plus another provider (DO/Vultr/etc).
Terraform and Ansible for IaC and config management.
Docker and container orchestration across many nodes.
Linux admin, networking (iptables, WireGuard, TLS).
Observability and incident response with Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana.
CI/CD with GitHub Actions and automated testing.
Scripting in Python, Go, or Bash.
VPN/proxy infra at production scale; WireGuard/OpenVPN/IKEv2 knowledge.
DNS/CDN/edge resilience; geo-distribution strategies.
Secrets management and encryption; least-privilege IAM.
Agentic AI tooling to write/review infra code with validation.

Responsibilities

Understand the acquired VPN product network architecture and infrastructure.
Build a map of cloud/hosting providers, VPN nodes, control plane, dependencies and tooling.
Identify critical reliability, security and cost risks.
Close critical knowledge gaps from the acquired team.
