Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Sr. Volunteer Recruitment Specialist in Houston, TX. This full-time role supports recruitment and engagement of volunteers across the region, with duties ranging from screening to placement and event coordination.

You will develop broad recruitment strategies, foster partnerships, and coach volunteer teams to strengthen engagement and retention, while traveling and sometimes working evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and presentation abilities.
• Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple evolving priorities; travel involved.
• Knowledge of Houston and local contacts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement broad-based recruitment strategies to attract Red Cross volunteers to support regional goals.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with volunteer recruitment agencies and populations for a strong candidate pipeline.
• Screen, refer, and place volunteers in appropriate opportunities; assist in scheduling orientations and events.
• Coach and guide volunteer teams; share best practices for engagement and retention.
• Develop volunteer needs assessments and align goals with stakeholders; support volunteer programs and services.
