Job summary

Planet Networks is seeking an experienced VoIP reliability engineer to own and harden a live Kamailio/Asterisk platform carrying carrier-grade traffic. You will operate production systems, close failure gaps, and drive observability and incident response with the development team.

You will push for operability in design, design and run rigorous tests, and mentor junior engineers to ensure zero customer downtime while scaling toward a next-generation platform.

Qualifications

• Senior hands-on experience operating and reliability-engineering production VoIP systems at carrier scale.
• Deep SIP protocol knowledge including dialogs, transactions, NAT, SDP, forking and failure modes under load.
• Expert level Kamailio/OpenSIPS routing, load balancing, registrar/usrloc and topology modules.
• Expert level Asterisk: PJSIP, dialplan, ARI/AMI, media handling and SIP proxy backend.
• Fluency with media plane: RTP/SRTP/RTSP/RTCP, codecs, QoS and call quality considerations.
• Track record designing and operating resilient, scalable carrier-class systems with five-nines goals.
• Hands-on practice with SLOs, error budgets, incident command, postmortems, and DR testing.

Responsibilities

• Own platform uptime as a daily responsibility and reduce customer downtime.
• Build and manage the observability stack: SIP capture, CDR, metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
• Define SLOs/SLIs for signaling, media, and registration; enforce them across the platform.
• Lead incident response and blameless postmortems; implement preventive actions.
• Write runbooks and participate in disaster-recovery drills; help design on-call rotations.
• Tune production fleet (Asterisk, Kamailio/OpenSIPS), manage live carrier traffic and scaling.
