Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a seasoned Virtual Operations Engineer to own and operate a private cloud infrastructure. You’ll manage VMware ESXi/vSphere, vSAN, and hyper‑converged platforms, ensure reliability, security, and performance, and work with cross‑functional teams to drive upgrades and resilience.

The role emphasizes on‑premises private cloud operations, automation, and security alignment with HIPAA, ITIL processes, and enterprise tooling.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience in systems, infrastructure, or virtualization operations.
• In-depth knowledge of private cloud technologies, VMware vSphere/ESXi and hyper‑converged platforms.
• Experience in on‑call, 24x7 environments.
• Proficiency in Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Linux.
• Strong data center networking and enterprise storage knowledge.
• ITIL practices and ServiceNow experience.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administration, monitoring, and maintenance of private cloud platform for high availability.
• Triage L3 incidents; provide on‑call 24x7 support and root-cause analysis.
• Plan lifecycle management: patches, upgrades, firmware/hardware updates.
• Collaborate with data center, network, storage, and cross‑functional teams.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python, Ansible or Terraform.
• Support private cloud orchestration and self‑service tooling (Aria, catalogs).
• Maintain Runbooks, architecture docs, and runbooks.
