Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a highly skilled Virtual Operations Engineer to own the on-prem private cloud platform. You will manage VMware vSphere/ESXi, vSAN, and hyper-converged systems, provide L3 support, and drive automation to improve reliability and performance.

Role requires 7+ years in virtualization operations, strong ITIL governance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. On-call rotation and 24/7 coverage are expected in a large enterprise environment.

Qualifications

7+ years experience in systems, infrastructure, or virtualization operations.
In-depth knowledge of private cloud technologies, particularly VMware vSphere/ESXi and hyper-converged platforms (e.g., vSAN, VxRail).
Experience in an on-call, 24-7 environment.
Proficiency with Windows Server OS, Active Directory, and Linux; strong networking and storage basics.
Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change) and ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

Oversee administration, monitoring, and maintenance of the private cloud platform for performance and high availability.
Manage VMware ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, VxRail, NSX, and related components; troubleshoot issues.
Provision, configure, and decommission VMs, templates, and resource pools using vMotion, HA, DRS.
Execute lifecycle management: patches, upgrades, firmware and hardware updates.
Manage backup, replication, and DR processes with regular testing.
Collaborate with data center, network, storage and other teams for scalable infrastructure.
