Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a highly skilled Virtual Operations Engineer to own and operate the on-prem private cloud infrastructure. You will manage VMware ESXi/vSphere, vSAN, VxRail, and related hyper-converged technologies, ensuring high availability, security, and scalable performance across 24x7 on-call environments.

You will collaborate with data center, network, and storage teams, automate routine tasks, and drive ITIL-aligned incident, change, and problem management using ServiceNow.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in systems, infrastructure, or virtualization operations.
• Deep experience with private cloud tech, VMware vSphere/ESXi and hyper-converged platforms.
• Experience in on-call 24x7 environments.
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux.
• Strong data center networking and enterprise storage knowledge.
• Familiar with ITIL practices and ServiceNow.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee private cloud operations and ensure HA.
• Administer VMware ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, VxRail.
• Provision and decommission VMs and resources with vMotion, HA, DRS.
• Plan lifecycle management including patching and upgrades.
• Manage backup, replication, DR across sites.
• Collaborate with data center, network, storage teams.
• Provide L3 support for outages and 24x7 on-call.
• Create runbooks and architecture docs.
• Liaise with vendors for advanced solutions.
• Automate tasks with scripting and tooling.
• Support private cloud orchestration and self-service tooling like VMware Aria.
• Follow ServiceNow ITIL processes.
• Ensure security/compliance with HIPAA.
• Self-healing and capacity planning.
