Job summary

First Citizens seeks a senior VMware VCF engineer to join the cloud infrastructure operations team. The role focuses on designing, implementing and managing VMware-based infrastructure, with remote work possible in states Arizona, North Carolina and Texas.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, implementing and managing VMware-based infrastructure solutions
• Extensive hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation and its components
• Strong understanding of networking, storage and virtualization concepts
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python and/or Ansible
• Experience with IaC frameworks like Terraform is a plus
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze complex issues
• Strong verbal communication across audiences
• VMware certifications (VCP/VCAP) desirable
• Ability to work on call rotation
• Self-starter in fast-paced environments
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to attain new technical skills and share knowledge
• Maintain calm and patient attitude under pressure

Responsibilities

• Consultation - Provides consultative direction and technical advice relating to the Bank's operating systems, software, and hardware infrastructure.
• Project Management - Leads assigned technical projects ensuring timely delivery and quality of objectives.
• Technical Expertise - Maintains knowledge to manage operations, communicates technical information clearly.
• Support, maintain and implement VMware VCF solutions tailored to meet Bank needs.
• Lead the operations and maintenance of VMware VCF across infrastructure with emphasis on scalability and reliability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate VMware VCF with existing systems.
• Provide senior level troubleshooting related to VMware solutions, including performance optimization.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, configuration, and management tasks.
• Continued education in latest VMware technologies and best practices
• Capacity planning and performance analysis to ensure optimal resource utilization
• Implement security best practices and regulatory compliance
• Document procedures and operationalize processes for knowledge transfer to Tier 2
• Manage and resolve incidents related to the VCF platform
