Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Engineer to support hydraulic-controls and lubrication-system development for transmissions within Global Virtual Engineering. You will build plant models, connect them with system simulations, and analyze oil flow, pressure, and shift performance to improve designs.

You will mentor teammates and lead reviews to shape robust, test-guided decisions. The role is hybrid, requires 8+ years of relevant experience and a BS in engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or controls engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent.
• Experience with two or more areas: transmission hydraulics, fluid power, electro-hydraulic controls, dynamic-system simulation, or 1D CAE.
• Experience building, using, or reviewing physics-based, control-oriented, or plant models.
• Experience with hydraulic components or systems such as pumps, valve bodies, solenoids, actuators, clutches, or lubrication circuits.

Responsibilities

• Build and connect plant models of transmission hydraulic and lubrication systems.
• Link plant models with transmission controls and system-level simulations.
• Analyze oil flow, pressure, aeration, temperature, and valve-body behavior.
• Compare simulations with test data to guide design decisions.
• Develop modeling capabilities and automation to reduce development time.
• Lead technical reviews and mentor other engineers.
