Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Transmission Hydraulic Controls Design and Release Engineer (DRE) or Technical Specialist to drive valve body assemblies and related components for current and next-generation powertrain portfolios. The role emphasizes global harmonization, cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and GM plants, and leadership in problem solving and process improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required.
7+ years of experience in design and release.
Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with CAD and CAE.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Design and release valve body assemblies and related components.
Develop and harmonize global commodity strategies.
Collaborate with suppliers and GM plants to improve manufacturing quality and reduce defects.
Lead root cause analysis for field and warranty issues.
Support validation of running changes in lab and vehicle.
Mentor and coach program engineers and share lessons with global stakeholders.
Communicate status, risks, and resolutions to leadership and cross-functional teams.
