The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales is responsible for overseeing the sales team, sales activities, and sales goals within a specified region. Responsible for developing and achieving the yearly business plan & budget for the region. The SVP will provide leadership to ensure positive and profitable relationships with all external parties, including customers, partners (A&D, real estate, GC), vendors, and subcontractors. Manages the effective implementation and execution of corporate processes and both corporate and local plans to increase the growth of the Region and achieve both short and long-term financial, operational, and customer objectives. The SVP of Sales will lead and execute the Officeworks mission, vision, and value proposition within their region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with management, directs the development and preparation of the region’s annual business plan and sales budgeting process, monitors progress against business objectives throughout the year.
  • Operates the team within established budgetary guidelines. Manages annually assigned budget for travel and other expenses and is accountable for impact of expenses on sales.
  • Analyzes monthly financial performance indicators and makes the necessary adjustments to ensure profitability of the region.
  • Conducts monthly site visits and business reviews with company executives and functional managers to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed
  • Reviews and contributes to decisions on advertising, marketing, pricing and all other issues related to sales and marketing. Must be cognizant of current selling trends.
  • Directs market penetration, sales growth, and diversification of the Region, including new business development activities. Identifies, analyzes, and recommends strategic alliances to enhance customer satisfaction, sales and financial growth and resilience.
  • Ensures that all team members maintain a consistent focus on high quality customer service. Where necessary, provides guidance and support to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously evaluates industry, market and technology trends to assess the potential impact on business opportunities. Makes recommendations as necessary.
  • Acts as a liaison in the implementation and/or interpretation of corporate programs, policies and operating procedures.
  • Participates in industry trade events and other marketing initiatives.
  • Leads the team to achieve goals and business results while properly delegating transactional tasks, supporting team members growth and development, and holding team members accountable to own their individual results and meet the expectations of their role and customers.

Supervisory / Management Requirements:

Directly or indirectly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Interviewing, hiring, and mentoring staff within assigned region
  • Holds 1:1 meetings with all direct reports on a routine basis (minimum of bi-weekly)
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations of all direct reports (minimum bi-annually)
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 8-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated track-record of meeting or exceeding goals
  • Successful track record of building strong customer relationships
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible business experience, including full P&L responsibility and the overall management of an operating business unit.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/capabilities in the areas of financial analysis, human resource and business administration, legal and ethical practices, marketing, business development and sales
  • Ability to think strategically, synthesize the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge to evaluate P&Ls and quickly ascertain areas of concern
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic sales strategies
  • Excellent planning, organizing and leadership/supervisory skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and executive presentation skills
  • Strong customer and results orientation
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Ability to be an effective member of and lead a team
