Job summary

CityVet Central Austin is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our vet-led clinic. The VT will assist Veterinarians, prep patients for surgery, and help manage post-operative care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include taking samples, administering medications, and communicating care instructions to clients. Must have at least 1 year of veterinary experience and a high school diploma or GED. Lift 50 lbs and work with animals daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Previous surgical and anesthesia experience required.
• Ability to restrain animals safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery and monitoring post-op care.
• Take x-rays, gather lab specimens and collect samples for testing.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and anesthesia under the DVM.
• Communicate with clients to provide instructions on pet care.
• Support client service staff as needed.
• Maintain strong organization and daily practice efficiency.
