Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks experienced Mates for our U.S. flag fleet, operating across inland and coastal waterways including the East Coast, Alaska, and Great Lakes. Mates are senior shipboard officers reporting to the Captain, responsible for safe vessel operations and professional leadership.

We provide onboard accommodations, meals, and access to simulator-based training. This role emphasizes prudent decision‑making, guest service, and crew development on demanding routes.

Qualifications

• U.S. Coast Guard Mate license (minimum 100 GRT with Near Coastal endorsement; 1,600 GRT preferred).
• TWIC issued credential required.
• Experience navigating coastal and river waterways; 2+ years preferred, 5+ years desired with Z-drive experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Operate the vessel in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Conduct daily inspections of all vessel spaces.
• Supervise, lead, and develop deck officers.
• Execute vessel cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics.
• Run crew orientation, training, watch standing, and drills.
• Collaborate with Hotel Officers and Service Crew for five‑star guest service.
• Document cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics.
