Job summary

Atoms in San Francisco seeks a Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer to own sensing and full vehicle-level integration for on-road autonomous platforms. You will bring platforms from bench to first vehicle and scale to commissioned fleets, integrating sensors, compute, networks, and actuation across vehicles and OEM partners.

You will build commissioning infrastructure, calibrate sensors, ensure safety signoffs, and align autonomy software integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field is required, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 8+ years integrating, validating, and debugging sensing, compute, and vehicle systems on prototype and production vehicles.
• Deep hands-on sensor integration across cameras, lidar, radar, GNSS/IMU: placement, alignment, calibration.
• Experience bringing up and commissioning end-to-end: firmware, calibration, safety signoffs, autonomy software.
• Experience designing hardware-in-the-loop or bench test infrastructure.
• Fluency with CAN, CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet and related tools.
• Linux proficiency and scripting in Python or MATLAB/Simulink for data analysis and automation.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and communicate trade-offs to cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own vehicle-level integration of sensing, compute, networks, power, and actuation across platforms.
• Own the sensing suite on-vehicle, including placement, field-of-view, calibration, and data interfaces.
• Drive technical bring-up of new vehicle platforms and create repeatable commissioning processes.
• Design and build HIL benches, breakout hardware, and instrumentation for regression testing.
• Conduct system-level debugging and root-cause analysis across sensing, compute, networks, and wiring.
• Support deployment at test sites, customer demos, and new-market launches with fleet health focus.
• Produce and maintain integration design docs, drawings, and build instructions.
