Job summary

Atoms in San Francisco is seeking a Director of Vehicle Integration to lead hardware-in-the-loop, bench validation, and bring-up processes for developing and testing our vehicle platforms.

You will guide senior engineers and technicians, ensure modular designs, and coordinate across hardware, software, and manufacturing to support multiple programs. This is an on-site role with travel as needed, offering a base salary with equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, CS, Robotics, or related field is required with 10+ years' experience including 5+ leading engineers.
• Own the vehicle integration from architecture through fleet deployment with accountability for on-road installation and validation.
• Hands-on depth in vehicle networks, drive-by-wire, electrical/harness architecture, embedded compute, hardware-in-the-loop.
• Experience translating bespoke bring-up into repeatable processes; L3/L4 autonomous driving or ADAS exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Off-vehicle validation: own hardware-in-the-loop and bench validation for software releases against real interfaces.
• Integration architecture: manage electrical architecture, harness placement, sensor/compute layout, power & fault handling.
• On-vehicle bring-up: own build instructions, drawings, calibration procedures, and production scripts.
• Cross-functional interfaces: collaborate with robotics, operations, hardware eng., manufacturing, OEMs.
