Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Vehicle Experience Services. You will design, build, and support platforms connecting GM vehicles to the cloud, working across cloud, network, and in-vehicle integrations to ensure secure, scalable connectivity.

You will own complex distributed systems, collaborate with internal and external partners, and drive hands-on implementation from architecture to production support in an agile team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production-grade services or platforms.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native development and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java microservices using Spring Boot 3.2+ and Java 17+ in a cloud-native environment.
• Implement event-driven integrations using Spring Kafka with proper retries and monitoring.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations for data integrity and performance.
• Build monitoring and alerting with Datadog for owned services and contribute to on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and other engineering teams across Carrier and Vehicle Services Platform.
