The North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician III (VERT III) for the Vance County Equipment Shop in Division 5. The position performs skilled small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment repair with emphasis on complex systems and diagnostic work.

Duties include inspecting and servicing brakes, steering, tires, powertrain, hydraulics, and related components using advanced diagnostic instruments, while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 3 years of repair experience.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal certification may be required.
• Experience with welding/steel fabrication is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Perform skilled repair on small engines, vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Inspect and service complex mechanical systems with diagnostic tools.
• Diagnose failures in brakes, steering, tires, powertrain and hydraulics.
• Calibrate and adjust engine analyzers and related components.
• Move and transport equipment as needed.
