Amazon Web Services, Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior UX Designer to shape the developer experience for Kiro across IDE, CLI, Web, Mobile, and Kiro Crew.

You will lead concept framing, user research, and end-to-end design, collaborating with product, engineering, and leadership to deliver meaningful improvements that scale. • Mentor junior designers and define scalable design patterns.

It's available as a desktop IDE, a CLI, a web app, a mobile app, and Kiro Crew (an open-source persistent development workspace), all powered by one unified agent harness.

It's available as a desktop IDE, a CLI, a web app, a mobile app, and Kiro Crew (an open-source persistent development workspace), all powered by one unified agent harness.

We're looking for a Senior UX Designer to help shape this experience. You'll initially focus on Kiro Crew and Mobile, two surfaces with distinct design challenges and significant room to define the experience. You'll build deep understanding of the developer audience while leading hands‑on design work: concept framing, interaction patterns, and shipping real improvements that inform longer‑term product direction.

The design challenges here are unlike traditional developer tools: How should a developer steer an autonomous agent? What does a spec‑driven workflow feel like across an IDE, a terminal, a browser, and a phone? How do you build trust in AI that writes and validates code on your behalf?

You excel in the early, ambiguous stages of design: concept modeling, ecosystem mapping, user story development, and framing the experience before pixels are ever pushed. You know how to set up a problem space so that the right solutions emerge. You are equally strong in execution, iterating rapidly and prototyping in whatever tool fits the moment. You adapt your approach based on the problem, the timeline, and the team. We value designers who bring their own perspective and working style. What matters is the quality of thinking and the impact of the outcome, not conformity to a single methodology.

You will collaborate with product teams, engineering teams, and executive leadership to identify and execute on opportunities, serving as the voice of the developer with senior leadership.

Key job responsibilities

• Go deep on audience understanding: conduct and synthesize research to build rich mental models of how developers think, work, and adopt agentic tools
• Lead concept design and early-stage framing: ecosystem maps, concept models, user stories, journey frameworks, and experience principles that set the foundation for product direction
• Own and drive the end-to-end design process for major features across the Kiro platform (IDE, CLI, Web, Mobile, and Kiro Crew)
• Shape the UX of agentic workflows including spec-driven development, autonomous mode, parallel agents, hooks, and correctness verification
• Iterate rapidly and prototype at the right fidelity, from paper sketches and concept storyboards to high-fidelity interactive prototypes, choosing the right tools and methods for each challenge
• Design cohesive experiences across desktop, terminal, browser, mobile, and open-source surfaces while respecting the unique interaction paradigms of each
• Partner with product management and engineering to influence strategy through strong design rationale and customer advocacy
• Mentor junior designers and define scalable design patterns that raise the bar across the team

We sit alongside product and engineering as one team, which means design has a seat at the table from strategy through shipping. We have dedicated UX research support and work in close collaboration with our researchers, so design decisions are grounded in real customer insight, not assumptions.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of design experience
• A portfolio that demonstrates deep audience understanding and early-stage design thinking: concept models, ecosystem maps, user stories, experience frameworks, and how you translate research into design strategy, not just polished final UI
• Experience designing complex, multi-step workflows across multiple platforms or surfaces, with strong information architecture and interaction design skills
• Experience designing for products where AI acts with meaningful autonomy, not just chatbot UI, but systems that plan, execute, and verify work on behalf of users
• Proficiency with multiple prototyping tools and methods, with the judgment to choose the right fidelity and approach for the situation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in designing cross platform experiences
• Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature
• Experience designing developer tools, IDEs, command-line products, or open-source developer experiences
• Track record of flexibly adapting design process and methods based on the problem at hand

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
