Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. is seeking a Utility Locator/SUE Technician to join our Florida team. The role requires 3–5 years of field experience locating underground utilities and coordinating a field crew. You will interpret maps, use SUE equipment, and maintain records for accurate data.

Daily tasks include operating GPR and EM locator gear, vacuum excavation, and ensuring safety and quality on site. Expect travel, lifting up to 50 lbs, and adherence to all safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of proven experience as a utility locator or SUE technician.
• Ability to interpret maps and records.
• Walk outdoors through varied terrains and weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license; occasional travel may be required.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and operate equipment as needed.
• Background checks and pre-employment drug screening are required.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utility lines using maps and records.
• Operate SUE field equipment and geophysical tools.
• Maintain accurate location records and updates.
• Inspect and assess potential hazards or issues on sites.
• Assist with maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and sites.
• Follow company policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
