Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a Senior Utility Inspector in Charlottesville, VA. The role focuses on managing and inspecting water and sewer utility construction projects, coordinating with engineers and owners, and ensuring conformance to plans, specs, and permits.

The position requires deep experience in utility construction, excellent documentation, and strong communication skills. It includes night/overtime work and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of utility construction management and inspection experience.
• High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience inspecting water and sewer underground utilities and monitoring conformance to plans/specs.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical systems in pump stations, including SCADA.
• Experience in contract administration, RFI/Submittal logs, and change orders.
• Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Construction management for utility projects and inspections.
• Field inspection to ensure contract compliance with plans and specs.
• Inspect electrical, mechanical systems and equipment at pump stations.
• Prepare daily/weekly reports and maintain testing logs.
• Coordinate pay estimates with Contractor and Engineer.
• Manage RFI/Submittal log and review contractor schedules.
