Job summary

The City of Turlock is seeking an experienced Utilities Maintenance Worker, Sr. to lead advanced journey level work on the City’s sanitary sewer, storm, and water distribution systems.

You will provide technical staff support and oversee complex maintenance tasks and projects. You will supervise field crews, review cost estimates, coordinate with the Utilities Maintenance Supervisor, and ensure safety for all activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of advanced journey level methods for sewer, storm, and water systems.
• Advanced knowledge of city distribution maps and systems.
• Advanced backflow and potable water treatment knowledge.
• Supervision principles and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise water, sewer, and storm system construction, maintenance and repair.
• Inspect and review work of subordinates and train less experienced staff.
• Prepare cost estimates for new service installations and main line extensions.
• Purchase materials, maintain inventory and records; respond to public requests.
• Install safety equipment and oversee complex field work.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs and sampling for tests.
