Job summary

The City of Pleasanton is seeking a Utilities System Operator I to support the operation and maintenance of water, sewer, and storm drain systems in the Public Works Department. The role may rotate through water or sewer pump station crews, distribution or collections crews, and assist with SCADA control systems.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable.
• Ability to read safety manuals, operating manuals and maps.

Responsibilities

• Assist in repair of water and sewer mains and services.
• Check daily operation of pump stations and wells.
• Perform maintenance on pumps, motors, valves and meters.
• Work with telemetry and SCADA control systems.
• Operate trucks, backhoes and other power equipment.
• Record readings on flow meters and PSI gauges.
• Respond to customer inquiries about water quality and pressure.
• Mark streets to identify underground pipes using maps.
• Rotate through 24 hour standby duty as needed.
