Xcel Energy in Colorado is seeking a seasoned Construction/O&M program leader to oversee safety, budgeting, and scheduling for capital and related projects. The role requires directing field activities, securing resources, and ensuring contractor performance aligns with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate brings extensive utility construction experience, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years in design, construction, operations, engineering or maintenance of utility systems/power plants or related fields.
• Field experience with construction/maintenance techniques and inspection activities.
• Technical expertise in standards, procedures and applicable regulations.
• Strong planning skills for crew sizes and durations.
• Familiarity with work packages, planning, and asset management applications.
• Ability to communicate policies and objectives to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide management and direct oversight of safe, cost effective day-to-day construction activities for capital projects, outage-related construction, and other special projects.
• Pre-qualify and maintain a list of approved contractors and inspectors; execute the inspection plan.
• Deliver safe, reliable, and compliant operations and ensure customer safety and satisfaction.
• Monitor safety, lead by example, participate in site audits, observations, investigations and reporting.
• Monitor budgets, schedules and resource requirements; ensure on-time completion within scope.
