Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an experienced leader to guide the Major Projects Group (MPG) in the Denver metro area. You will direct multi-year electric and gas relocation projects, interfacing with regulators, municipalities, customers, and internal teams to ensure safety, scope, and timing are met.

The role requires managing budgets, schedules, and contracts, while coordinating with external partners and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum eight years combined gas or electric utility experience in engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or knowledge.
• Strong ability to motivate others and to manage projects.
• Ability to multitask and to interact simultaneously with diverse work groups.
• Familiarity with regulations applicable to engineering/construction projects.
• Subject to all applicable Federal, State and Xcel Energy Drug testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design relocations and coordinate engineering of electric transmission and high‑pressure gas projects in the Denver metro area.
• Negotiate work requests and execute relocation agreements; manage easement challenges and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Provide on-site oversight of field relocations to minimize downtime and meet schedules.
• Coordinate timely invoice reimbursements for the project.
• Resolve customer complaints in a timely, equitable manner.
• Report project status to stakeholders across Xcel Energy.
