Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC seeks an Embedded Software Engineer focused on USV autonomy and mission software. You will integrate sensor data, build Python adapters, and support real-time interfaces and simulation demos on a USV platform.

The role spans UI integration, simulation workflows, and multi-service deployments, with emphasis on reliability, testability, and rapid delivery across on-site, hybrid, or remote work arrangements.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of Python for services, tooling, or automation scripts.
• Familiarity with autonomy/robotics concepts (mission states, control modes, fail-safes).
• Exposure to maritime/USV data sources (GPS/IMU, AIS, radar integration concepts).
• Experience with simulation-driven integration and replay (recorded logs, deterministic playback).
• Experience with telemetry and messaging systems (Redis pub/sub, DDS, MQTT, Kafka).
• Experience integrating systems using APIs and real-time patterns (REST, WebSockets, streaming).
• Active U.S. national security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver integrated USV concept demonstrations for workflows like mission planning and geofencing.
• Build Python utilities and lightweight services to support concepts (adapters, data shaping, simulation hooks).
• Work across containerized deployments: Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes; troubleshoot distributed messaging (DDS, pub/sub).
• Create runbooks and tests to keep demos ready; ensure maintainability of the integration stack.
