Job summary

Pfizer is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist in Andover, MA to join the Upstream Process Development group within Bioprocess R&D. This mixed role combines hands-on mammalian cell culture with software development to automate and control processes.

You’ll contribute to manufacturing processes for recombinant proteins and help build Pfizer’s in-house bioprocess automation platform. You will work with scientists, automation engineers, and vendors to deliver integrated solutions in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with the specified industrial experience.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language and a tangible project you built.
• Hands-on laboratory experience in cell culture or related fields.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical choices to non-coders.

Responsibilities

• Translate process understanding into control requirements and deploy control schemes.
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments in scale-down models.
• Serve as SME for instrument platforms (bioreactors, counters, probes) and integrate into platform.
• Provide end-to-end support: version control, code review, testing, deployment, monitoring, and updates.
• Contribute to a safe, harmonious lab environment and collaborative team culture.
